PARK ROAD LOFT

Project: Loft Conversion with dormer, partial refurbishment.
Location: Crouch End, London
Year: 2021

This project effectively addresses the growing need for extra space in a family home while emphasizing the importance of light and vistas to create an inspiring and inviting atmosphere. The clients originally had a second-floor room but sought to expand the area through a dormer loft conversion that maximizes natural light and provides stunning views of Alexandra Palace.

The initial brief included the creation of a bedroom, office, shower room, and laundry room. As the design evolved, we proposed combining the office and bedroom into a larger, flexible space. The innovative use of bifold doors allows the room to transform based on needs—when the office is not in use, the doors can be opened to enhance the sense of space and light; when privacy is required, they can be closed, effectively creating two distinct areas.

Initially considering the space for two children's bedrooms, the clients were so pleased with the final design that it became their master bedroom. To ensure this area is as bright as possible, we incorporated a mix of VELUX windows that offer lovely views from the shower room and bifold doors that open to picturesque vistas of Alexandra Palace. Additionally, we introduced Powder coated aluminium windows, providing a contemporary touch to the existing Victorian façade.

This approach not only fulfils the family's spatial needs and adds value to the property but also creates an uplifting environment that celebrates both functionality and aesthetic appeal.
